Great Weekend!
Some of this Edwardian stuff can really shift even by todays standards. Then again, with engines somewhere between 11 and 24 litre, I guess it should.
This weekend we went to see the 'Wacky Races'. The Vintage Sports Car Club's annual hill climb at Prescott Hill and........................
...............a visit to the National Botanical Garden of Wales near Carmarthen. Of course, being a muppet, I left both my dark glasses and camera (freshly loaded with new batteries) in the car. These pictures were taken using my 'phone.

O happy DAAY!
Looks like a good time, ticker!
(heart)
Fewclewz...........
Ooh ArrH! Looks like the place wot yew took me and Mrs Fewclewz to, in the Cotswolds.
One thing I haven't managed to work out tickers.......once they've climbed the hill........what happens to them???
I can so see myself wearing nothing but leather and riding around town in one of those babies...
But a problem arises....where shall I put the kids?
Boys and toys. No matter how old.
~d- It was indeed a fabulous time.
Fewclewz- Yes, the same place. When they get to the top of the hill Dr Who transports them in both time and space, such that they arrive back at the bottom of the hill as Ford Mondeo's. Simple really.
Awaiting- No problem, for you, I've included an update at the bottom of the post.
Hey Lady- You're right, no matter how precious they try to dress it up, they're just big toys.
What's that phallic plant with the tit in the middle?
I could stand to be chauffeured around in the car in the last pic - Does it come with a broom holder?
Yeah, what is that plant/rock?
I adore the cars! And those garden pics aren't half bad for a camera phone.
MJ & IDV- It's a Glass Plant. It looks like many semi-decayed sunflower heads, stacked together to make a stump.
Snooze- Ah, a lady after my own heart.
Fantastic, Ive been to Goodwood Festival of Speed twice... loved the hill climb best.
I've always promised myself I'd go there but never have. Did you wear the 1950's clothing?
ARGH! I just reread and saw the picture about the Botanical garden near Carmarthen!!! You were surprised I knew about the Gower peninsula? I studied for a semester (best semester ever) at Trinity College in Carmarthen in Fall of 1998. *feels warm fuzzies inside for Carmarthen*
Its a pity they can't afford new cars.
Hey Lady- So when are you going to settle down in Europe?
Old Knudsen- They can afford new cars. They are trying to offset their carbon footprint, created by racing, by only using recycled components.
Did you enter your Reliant Robin???
Pics aren't bad for a phone camera - I must get one
Still got to put the freshly rebuilt engine in.
I think if you have a camera with more than 2 mega pixels, you probably don't need to carry a camera as well for ordinary snapshots. Mine is a Nokia 6230i with 1.3 mp's
Mr Ticks , that last green car is a real beauty , looks like a good day out :-)
Wow, great stuff, and the grass is so green in the pictures, almost makes me wish I was back in the UK....here the grass in my back yard is as yellowed and wizened as a prostitute's pubic hair due to LACK of rain.
As soon as I can finangle my way into getting a visa? Possibly with a teaching job if I am ever so lucky...
Emmak- Best make sure your prostitutes are well rained on then.
Hey Lady- Emigrate to some God forsaken Eastern European country. One you're a citizen, Europe's your lobster.
oo, the UK version of the 'Rat Rod'!!! the Yummy Biker will HAVE to see this! isn't it amazing to see that old iron running, and not only running but STEPPING OUT down the pavement like a missle? nothing like it!
we have nostalgia drags here where old race rust competes for prizes, running all original equipment and fuel. there's nothing that comes close to the old UK flyers!
so, whats the thing that looks like a stack of moldy pineapple slices?
Nice fhotos and good cars, thank you
Reminds me of the time I went to Alton Park to watch the rally cars. They had vintage stuff on display when I was there.
FN- There is also the aroma of Castrol 'R'. Yummm!!!!.
The weird thing is a glass plant.
David Santos- Welcome to 'He's got to be a bit Gay'.
Jingo- Hello again Jingo.
wow! very cool. Your phone takes an excellent photo.
That glass plant looks wild.
Looks like you had a grand time. Fun seeing those old cars. Reminds me of an ex of mine who drove a Bugati. He was such an oddball.
Phlegmfatale- Coincidently, Prescott Hill is the home of the UK's Bugatti Owners Club.
We had our wedding reception at the Bugatti owners club. Guests had a great wheeze seeing how fast they could get their cars up the course.
Now what about the weekend of August 11/12?
Gumpher- That sounds brilliant! Oh and welcome to the Tickosphere.
MJ- OK. Posted.
